Apple ‘iPhone 6 1′ and iOS 7 Reportedly Appearing in App Developer Logs

Even as many of us are still getting used to our shiny new iPhone 5′s and navigating the ins and outs of iOS 6, we’re seeing reports that iOS 7 and the next-generation iPhone are in the testing phase.
A device with the model identifier “iPhone6,1″ running iOS 7 is appearing in app usage logs, a developer told The Next Web. The iPhone 5 is identified as “iPhone5,1″ or “iPhone 5,2″ in developer logs, depending on the model.
“From the developer logs that we have seen, the app requests originate from an IP address on Apple’s Cupertino campus, suggesting that members of Apple’s software development and app teams are compatibility testing some of the more popular or well-known applications already on the App Store,” The Next Web reports.
Earlier this year, evidence of the iPad mini appeared in Instapaper founder Marco Arment’s app usage logs as a new iPad model called iPad 2,5 and 2,6 (Wi-Fi and cellular models of the device). Previous versions of the iPhone and its iOS operating system also have been spotted in logs.
Apple usually provides a first glimpse at its new version of iOS each June at WWDC, Apple’s annual developer conference. The OS actually launches to the public with the release of the next iPhone model, which for the iPhone 4S and iPhone 5 has taken place in the fall.
